The NTC is a youth-led safe space connecting teens to community and encouraging positive growth. At the NTC, youth gather to have fun, enjoy nutritious snacks and meals from the garden and kitchen and have the option to attend fun classes and events! The NTC is a program under the direction of the Washington County Youth Service Bureau/Boys & Girls Club.
The space provides ample opportunities for activities such as pool, ping-pong, foosball, board games and fitness, art and garden programs as well as just relaxing with friends. We provide healthy snacks daily and a place for youth to do homework. The NTC holds monthly open Teen Council meetings to discuss and plan what happens in the space. Every young person who uses the space is encouraged to voice their opinion and play a role in shaping the club. Youth play a key role in determining schedules of activities, resolving conflicts, and maintaining a safe and respectful space, with guidance from two experienced and trained adults.
The Washington County Youth Service Bureau’s mission is to provide a wide range of innovative and effective programs that empower and enrich the lives of youth and families in Washington County, and to provide leadership and support to other youth programs throughout Vermont. The Washington County Youth Service Bureau/ Boys & Girls Club is a private, non-profit organization that has assisted young people and families since 1974. Our work is supported by private, local, state, and federal grants, Medicaid and other insurance, donations, and fundraising. Most of our services are free. For those requiring payment, we accept most insurances and Medicaid, and offer a sliding fee scale. No one is turned away because they cannot pay.
